About Mana Hale

Mana Hale is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on expanding affordable housing and helping create senior living communities that respond to the needs of older adults.

We believe housing should be more than shelter. It should provide a foundation for stability, dignity, opportunity and connection.

Our work brings together thoughtful design, mission-aligned development, collaborative financing and resident-focused services to create communities that work for the people who live there.

Our Mission

Mana Hale creates housing with heart—developing inclusive, affordable communities where people of all ages can live with dignity, stability and connection.

Our Vision

We envision a future where safe, affordable housing is not a privilege, but a foundation—where every individual has a place to call home.

Why

Communities across the Western United States are experiencing a growing housing shortage.

Rising costs have outpaced incomes, leaving many families and essential workers without stable, affordable housing options. At the same time, older adults need more communities that support independence, connection and changing care needs.

The consequences reach far beyond rent. Housing instability can affect health, employment, family security and a person’s ability to remain connected to their community.

Mana Hale was created to help address those challenges through housing that is financially grounded, thoughtfully planned and focused on long-term social outcomes. Our charitable purpose also includes pursuing projects that create public benefit—such as income-restricted housing, resident services, community amenities, improved access and reduced pressure on public agencies and resources.

Our Approach

Dignity

Housing should respect the people who live there and support their independence and well-being.

Stability

A stable home gives people a stronger foundation for health, employment, family life and long-term opportunity.

Belonging

Housing should help residents remain connected to their families, neighbors, services and communities.

Partnership

Meaningful housing solutions require public, private and nonprofit organizations to work toward a shared outcome.

Long-term impact

The value of affordable housing should extend beyond project completion. Our goal is to create communities that remain useful, affordable and connected over time.

Housing that centers people

Success is not measured by buildings alone.

It is measured by whether people can find homes they can afford, whether those homes support their daily lives and whether each community continues to serve its intended purpose.
