Affordable Housing

More housing options for the people communities rely on.

Mana Hale is focused on helping create and preserve homes affordable to low- and moderate-income households, including essential workers and families whose incomes have not kept pace with housing costs.
We believe affordability should be considered alongside location, quality, access and long-term stability. A home should not only be attainable when it opens; it should remain a dependable part of the community over time.

Why This Work Matters

When housing costs rise faster than incomes, the effects extend beyond individual households. Workers face longer commutes, families have less stability and communities struggle to retain the people who support schools, healthcare, local businesses and essential services.

Addressing this need requires both the creation of new homes and the preservation of housing that is already affordable.

Our Role

Affordable housing depends on coordinated participation from many sectors. Mana Hale is being established to work alongside public agencies, lenders, investors, developers, operators and community-based organizations.

Our role will depend on the needs of each opportunity. It may include nonprofit ownership or participation, helping align financing and mission objectives, supporting long-term affordability, coordinating resident-serving partnerships or reinvesting project proceeds into future housing and community needs.

Where resident services are part of a community, Mana Hale seeks to plan for them early and account for them in project financing and operations so they have a durable path beyond lease-up. Services are delivered by qualified operating, nonprofit and community partners based on resident needs and the project’s funding structure.

The objective is not to duplicate the expertise of established partners. It is to help connect that expertise around a clear and durable housing outcome.

Our Approach

Long-Term Affordability

Long-term affordability guides how projects are structured, extending beyond the initial development.

Practical, Quality Housing

Affordable housing should be thoughtfully designed, responsibly built and capable of serving residents over the long term.

Connected Communities

Site considerations include access to employment, transportation, schools, services and other resources households depend on.

Aligned Partnerships

We work to establish clear responsibilities, shared expectations and early coordination among the organizations involved.
